A Thousand More Words

A quick follow-up post to the previous 1000 words: I’ve already noted that during the summer 2003, serial paedophile Steven Sitler attended the Highlands Study Center and preyed on the lambs of RC Jr’s flock, and I noted that Sitler kept a photo archive of his victims on the worldwide web that he concealed from the authorities. I call these facts to your attention because Sitler took this photograph of RC Jr’s basement during his stay in Virginia.

I count six cases and one six pack of Corona, two sixers of Heineken, two sixers of Samuel Adams, two sixers of Ice, a sixer of Molson Ale, three sixers I can’t distinguish, and multiple empties. Now, I am not a teetotaler, but this strikes me as a bit much. Excessive or not, RC’s basement stash left a strong enough impression on 18-year-old Steven Sitler that he documented it on film. Sitler titled the pic “Bird_214,” but as far as I’m concerned it gives new meaning to The Basement Tapes.

Thank you.

That's one heck of a stash RC has there. He must be a real party animal. Not a pretty picture.

I noticed that he actually brags about his home brewing and drinking habits on the Highlands site; he gives me the impression that he’s a real fish.

What we have pictured here is the publishable cache of a strong brother who is prepared to exercise his “Christian liberty of conscience” in order to become edified. New visions (even federal) are made of such things and weaker brothers are illumined in their reflected aberrant light. Obviously, young Sitler was edified by the training of this famous de-evangelist, as so many others have been before him.

A bottle of bleach, a toy jet, and True Blue are juxtaposed to round out this enlightening Sproul collection labeled “Bird_214” by the impressionable young disciple.

Good one.

Sproul's basement appears to be the special focus of his alcoholic predilections. I just saw a video on You Tube where Sproul is recording one of his Basement Tapes and he's got liquor bottles all over the table. In the room are what appear to be some very impressionable young men. Why would any pastor think it appropriate to flaunt his christian liberties in this fashion?

If you click on my name I think it should take you to the video.

Yep, I see the hard stuff. What a lush.

"The Basement Tapes will now be referred to as the 'Boozement Tapes'."

Someone's idea of how to cope with RC Sproul Jr's disastrous Christian "testimony" is to satirize him. If it weren't all so true it might be really funny.

Looks like quite a party he's got there. They must glorify God alot with all that liquor. Did anyone else notice the portrait of Stonewall hanging on the wall?

Mark T, are there any articles examining the Wilsonians' weird fascination with the old south?

Hi Jonathan,

I have been documenting Wilson’s Southern slavery scandal of 2003–04 in the “DUMB and Tan” category. This scandal was the direct result of Wilson’s revision of Southern history to lionize slaveholders and wink at slavery. There’s some slavery stuff in the “Southern Schism” category as well, but it’s mostly incidental. Finally, since Google owns Blogger, you can search keywords in the Search box located at the top left corner. It should be helpful.

Thanks for stopping in.

I wrote, "True Blue." It is actually "True Brew" on the shelf by the child's toy jet.

They are, nonetheless, "whiskey bent and Hell bound."

Typo or not, it’s still a good comment.
